Ceramic Care Instruction

Thank you for bringing a piece of OVU Studio into your home! To help your handmade ceramics stay beautiful and functional for years to come, please follow these care instructions:

Cleaning
1. We Do Not Recommend Dishwashers: Handmade ceramics are not designed for the harsh conditions of a dishwasher. High temperatures, strong detergents, and mechanical agitation can damage the glaze and structure of your piece.  
   - If you still choose to use a dishwasher:  
     - Place the ceramic gently on the top rack, away from other items that could cause scratches or impacts.  
     - Use the gentlest cycle with cold or lukewarm water.  
     - Avoid using abrasive detergents or rinse aids.  
2. Hand Washing is Preferred: For the safest and most effective cleaning, gently wash your ceramics with warm water and mild dish soap. Avoid abrasive sponges or scrubbers.  
3. Dry Thoroughly: After washing, dry your piece with a soft cloth to prevent water spots or residue buildup.  

Handling
1. Be Gentle: Handmade ceramics are durable but can be fragile. Handle your pieces with care, especially when moving or storing them.  
2. Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Sudden changes in temperature (e.g., placing a hot item into a cold ceramic) can cause cracking. Let your ceramics adjust to room temperature naturally.  

Storage
1. Stack with Care: If stacking ceramics, place a soft cloth or paper towel between them to prevent scratches.  
2. Store in a Safe Place: Keep your ceramics in a secure location where they won’t be knocked over or exposed to heavy objects.  

Usage Tips
1. Microwave and Oven Safety: Our ceramic are all microwave or oven safe, always check for cracks or chips before use. Avoid extreme temperature changes to prevent damage.  
2. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use bleach or strong cleaning agents, as they can harm the glaze and finish of your ceramics.  

Displaying Your Ceramics  
1. Keep Away from Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to sunlight can fade the colors of your ceramics over time.  
2. Use Coasters or Trivets: Protect your ceramics from scratches or heat damage by using coasters or trivets underneath.
